Altitude training rooms are becoming more prevalent in the Australian fitness scene. Offerings include simulated altitude rooms as a bespoke in-studio feature through to gyms built solely around altitude training, such as the Air Locker franchise. The limitation for many commercial gyms lies in either the set up cost of creating a simulated altitude room or the lack of available space to designate a room for this purpose. Box Altitude offers a solution that makes installing an altitude system in your fitness studio both easier and more affordable.
The Story Behind Box Altitude
Ex-professional cyclist and the founder of Box Altitude, Rico Rogers, used altitude training and altitude sleep systems throughout his 10 year professional racing career. He harnessed the benefits of altitude training to enhance his performance and achieved great results as a sprinter from doing so.
“We started Box Altitude with a range of comfortable and affordable altitude sleeping tents that we design and manufacture here in Melbourne. From there we created training tents, so customers could do altitude training at home. Now we are fitting out altitude rooms in homes, gyms and offices.” Rico said.

How Box Altitude disrupted the simulated altitude training market
Having experienced the benefits of altitude training for himself, Rico realised there was a need to make it more accessible for people in the commercial space.
“In my opinion, the ROI model for altitude rooms was too high, and I wanted to make altitude rooms accessible to everyone – just like our altitude tents.”
Box Altitude created an altitude system which cost half to two-thirds of the price of what was currently on the market. “We were called “a market disrupter” which we were quite happy to be called. I’m confident that a Box Altitude training room can provide a higher return than almost any other piece of training equipment.”
Making altitude training accessible for everyone
“We have been fortunate to work with and supply some of the best athletes and coaches in the world. It’s gratifying to know that we can offer these same elite training techniques to everyone – techniques based on years of sport science research and a deep understanding of the practical applications of altitude.” said Rico.
“Our diverse training regimes ensure everyone can get sustained results from training in our altitude rooms. I would love to see Box Altitude Spin classes dotted nationwide. Altitude Spin classes would be a great way to get the best physiological results for members.”

The benefits of offering an altitude room in your gym or studio
In an era where competition is huge for gyms in both attracting and retaining members, fitness business owners are always looking for a unique offering to set them apart from the pack.
The benefits of offering an altitude room in your gym or studio include: –
- Attract new clients
- Retain existing clients
- Enhance member experience
- Engage members
- Accelerate training outcomes
- Creates new revenue streams
Rico is confident that whatever your situation and desired outcome, Box Altitude has the scientific, engineering and design capability to develop and deliver an appropriate altitude training or sleep solution.
