Australia’s second-largest fitness network is making its boldest portfolio move yet, and it’s one fitness professionals and gym operators across the country should be watching closely.
Viva Leisure has officially announced the launch of Zoo Fit, a new low-cost gym brand set to open its first locations in Western Australia in late July 2026. The move marks the ASX-listed company’s formal entry into the value fitness segment and signals a sharpening of its multi-brand growth strategy.
What Is Zoo Fit?
Zoo Fit is positioned as a high-quality, affordable fitness offering; think 24/7 access, world-class equipment, and wellness and recovery services at a genuinely accessible price point. Memberships start at just $8.88 per week for gym access, or $14.88 per week for gym plus wellness access.
The brand’s first locations will open in Wanneroo and Mandurah, with further WA sites to follow and a broader national rollout planned over the next 12 to 18 months.
The 'Fit Fam' Membership: A First for Australian Fitness
One of the most distinctive elements of Zoo Fit’s launch is a product that hasn’t been seen before in the Australian fitness industry: the Fit Fam membership.
Priced from $24.80 per week, the Fit Fam membership covers two adults and two teenagers (aged 13-17), with the flexibility to add up to two additional teenagers. It’s a direct play for household fitness participation, and a smart one at a time when family health and shared wellness experiences are increasingly front of mind for Australian consumers.
For fitness business owners, this is worth noting. The family membership model has historically been underserved in the low-cost gym space, and Zoo Fit appears to be filling that gap deliberately.
Why Western Australia First?
Viva Leisure isn’t entering WA on a whim. The company cited the state’s strong population growth, rising health and wellness participation rates, and its own existing operational footprint there as key factors in selecting WA as the launch market.
Managing Director and CEO Harry Konstantinou was direct about the commercial rationale: “WA is one of the strongest growth opportunities in the country for fitness, and we saw a clear gap in the market for a genuinely value-led offering that doesn’t compromise on experience.”
What This Means for the Australian Fitness Industry
Viva Leisure’s portfolio already spans premium, mid-market and boutique fitness (Club Lime, Plus Fitness, hiit republic, Club Pilates, GROUNDUP and Supp Society), along with strategic investments in World Gym Australia and Boutique Fitness Studios. As of today, the group operates more than 510 locations globally and serves over 650,000 members.
Zoo Fit, as Konstantinou describes it, is “the missing piece”; a dedicated low-cost, high-value brand that completes the portfolio and allows the company to serve a broader cross-section of the market.
For independent gym operators and boutique studio owners, this is a significant competitive development. The low-cost segment in Australia has been dominated by a handful of established players, and a well-capitalised, tech-enabled entrant backed by Viva Leisure’s infrastructure, including its proprietary Viva Pay, The Hub, and Access Control ecosystem, raises the bar considerably.
At the same time, Zoo Fit’s entry validates what many in the industry already know: value-conscious consumers still expect quality, convenience, and flexibility. The days of “cheap gym = poor experience” are over, and operators at every price point need to be thinking about how they deliver genuine value.
Pre-Sales Now Open: Founding Member Offer
Zoo Fit pre-sales are live ahead of the July 2026 launch. Founding members receive eight weeks free and lock in their membership price for life — a strong acquisition incentive that fitness marketers will recognise as a well-executed launch hook.
