The Australian Institute of Personal Trainers (AIPT) 7th annual Indigenous scholarship.
The Australian Institute of Personal Trainers’ Indigenous Scholarship was established to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians with the much-needed health and fitness knowledge and skills to help address the chronic health and socio-economic issues affecting the Indigenous community.
The 2020 Australian Institute of Personal Trainer’s Indigenous Scholarship awards two scholarships. The recipients will have the opportunity to study our nationally recognised Complete Personal Trainer^ program.
This course covers topics such as:
- anatomy and physiology
- designing and delivering gym and exercise programs for special populations
- health assessment and screening
- client motivation and quality service
- occupational health and safety risk management
- business essentials including marketing
Scholarship winners will be selected based on their passion and dedication to health and fitness as well as using their acquired knowledge to positively give back to their Indigenous community.
Each Indigenous Scholarship is valued at up to $5,000.
Minimum levels of literacy and numeracy are required in order to undertake this course and all applicants have to be 16 years of age or above.
About the Course
The Complete Personal Trainer^ program gives scholarship recipients the comprehensive knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their fitness careers. By starting with the core units of the SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness before launching into the SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness, the scholarship recipients will graduate with all the necessary knowledge and competencies required to be a successful Personal Trainer.
The Complete Personal Trainer^ program comprises of two components:
- THEORY: 20 online units of competency
- PRACTICAL: 40 hours of practical experience with a Mentor of their choice#
The scholarship recipients can choose their own Mentor – an experienced Personal Trainer – to guide them through the practical components of their course. The Mentor must be approved by the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers, and will assist the recipient in applying the concepts they are learning to real-world fitness situations.
