As the baggy hoodies and track pants get pushed to the back of the wardrobe and our white winter legs start to emerge, it’s a great time to commit to some increased exercise. STEPtember is a perfect challenge to kick start the transition to warmer months and this year, STEPtember and legendary underwear brand Step One have joined forces for a good cause.
What is STEPtember?
STEPtember is a global initiative that takes place each year to encourage participants to achieve a minimum of 10,000 steps each day. Not only does is promote physical activity (which we love), but it aims to make a positive impact in the lives of those living with cerebral palsy.
The Cerebral Palsy Alliance funds a wide range of research, services, and assistive technology that supports people with cerebral palsy to live their best lives. The research helps with:
- Babies at Risk: Identifying babies at risk of cerebral palsy and providing early intervention therapies during critical early days of development.
- Essential research: From early detection and diagnosis to regenerative medicine, epidemiology, innovative mobility and technology.
- Assistive technology: Life changing tech and devices, like eye gaze technology can allow people with cerebral palsy to communicate.
- Start-Up Accelerator: A start-up accelerator committed to developing tech start-ups that amplify human potential and reduce barriers for people with disability.
- Youth Programs: Programs that empower teenagers and young adults living with a disability to take on new challenges and live their best lives possible.

Step One Joins the STEPtember Challenge
This year, cult-favourite underwear brand Step One has joined the STEPtember challenge with a limited-edition design that aligns with the cause. For every pair sold from this special collection, Step One will donate $5 to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. This partnership is a perfect match, combining the brand’s commitment to comfort with a cause that aims to improve lives.
Step One is famous for its innovative “UltraGlyde” technology which reduces friction when you walk, minimising the risk of chafing. In addition to raising funds for the amazing cause, Step One will also keep chafing at bay for you while you achieve your 10k steps per day.
Step One products are made from bamboo fabric which is naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal and hypoallergenic. The naturally breathable, moisture-wicking properties are great for temperature regulation, which is a must when you’re getting your sweat up during physical activity or if you work outdoors in the hot Australian summer.
Step One’s unique Ultraglyde anti-chafe panels prevent ride-ups and help to keep chafing at bay. Not only are the body shorts style a lifesaver for women with thighs that rub, but the supportive 3D pouch in the men’s pairs holds everything in place, keeping those precious goods cradled safely and securely. Step One have over 40k positive online reviews.
