Get ready, Australia! HYROX, referred to as the World Series of Fitness Racing, is hitting our shores with two events on the cards so far. The first race will be held in Sydney on August 12th, followed by Melbourne on August 26th.
What is HYROX?
HYROX launched in Germany back in 2017 and is now being enjoyed in over 11 locations around the world. Some HYROX events have seen more than 4000 participants and over 10,000 spectators!
The HYROX events combine eight 1km runs and eight workouts consisting of;
- SkiErg
- Sled Push
- Sled Pull
- Burpee Broad Jumps
- Rowing
- Farmers Carry
- Sandbag Lunges, and
- Wall Balls
The design of the workouts is kept the same worldwide and can be enjoyed as a solo participant in either the Standard / Open division or Individual Pro as well as options for doubles and relay teams if you perform better with a crew by your side!
The team behind HYROX takes pride in it being an accessible fitness race for everybody and the event has had competitors from age 16 to 77. While the average finisher will knock over the event in around 90 minutes, some will take 3 hours to complete the race, but over 98% of participants make it to the finish.
HYROX in Australia
To make this happen, HYROX teamed up with rapidly growing fitness franchise BFT as the Exclusive Gym Partner for HYROX in Australia. This means that HYROX training will be incorporated into every BFT franchise in the country, so you can join in the fun at your local gym.
HYROX has been growing significantly over the past year internationally, with new markets announced in Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Scandinavia, and Spain, and over 100% increase in participation worldwide. With BFT acting as HYROX Training Centres in Australia, Europe, and Asia, the brand hopes to inspire athletes worldwide to push their limits and participate in their next HYROX race. As the Exclusive Gym Partner for the region, BFT will run dedicated HYROX training days and classes as part of its programming structure, with all 169 gym franchises completing the same workout on the same day. Get ready to race!

Exercise as the Key to Independence for Older Adults
Less than a generation ago, turning 40 was thought of as middle aged, and starting a ‘Fitness Over 40’ exercise program would have been shrugged off as a waste of time for it being too late to get in shape. Now, what we think of as ‘middle aged’ or ‘old’ has changed as people live
