Australian Breakthrough Cancer (ABC) Study

You don’t have to have cancer, to fight cancer.

In fact, you, and everyone you know are invited to be part of the Cancer Council’s newly launched Australian Breakthrough Cancer (ABC) Study.

The ABC Study is looking for Australian residents aged between 40 and 74 years, who have never had cancer. It will investigate the role that our genes, lifestyle and environment play in the development of cancer and other disease. Researchers are particularly interested in hearing from people who have a family history of cancer.

This study aims to recruit one of the largest ever Australian research groups, with over 50,000 participants needed!

The ABC Study involves an online questionnaire and a saliva sample sent via the post. The questionnaire asks about things such as family history, diet and lifestyle. We hope this information will provide breakthroughs leading to more individualised cancer prevention and screening.

You can also assist us by spreading the word about this important project. The more people taking part in this study, the more we’ll be able to learn.
