Fitness & Health Expo Under New Management

New consumer event specialist company Talk2 Media & Events has acquired the Fitness & Health Expo from Diversified Communications Australia – but exhibitors probably won’t notice straight away.

Why not? Because Talk2 Media & Events (Talk2 ME) is owned by Diversified Communications Australia’s International Director, Matt Pearce, and Finance Director, Steve Malbourne, both of whom will step down from their current roles immediately to run the new company. Talk2 ME has also acquired the Good Food & Wine Show.

“When Diversified made the corporate decision to exit the consumer event market, we decided to grasp this once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to acquire these two truly iconic Australian events,” says Matt Pearce.

“The hugely talented and experienced team that currently works on the Fitness & Health Expo will be joining us at Talk2 ME, which will guarantee quality and continuity of service for our exhibitors, visitors, and suppliers. So it’ll be business as usual – but even better! Plus Steve Malbourne and I have been heavily involved with the show over the last 10 years, so we will bring all that heritage and knowhow to the table.”

Diversified Communications Australia will retain its large trade exhibition portfolio, according to General Manager, David Longman, who adds:

“Matt and his team are passionate about consumer events. Knowing the staff and the brands are in good hands was an important part of the decision to divest.”

The Fitness & Health Expo is the largest fitness and health expo in the southern hemisphere, generating an annual visitor spend of AU$12 million at shows in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane. The Melbourne show is co-located with the FILEX educational conference that gathers more than 2500 fitness industry professionals to learn from the world’s leading health, fitness, nutrition, and business experts.

The first Fitness & Health Expos held under Talk2 ME’s stewardship will be in Melbourne from 29 April to 1 May, followed by Perth from 19 to 21 August, and Brisbane from 21 to 23 October. The Fitness & Health Expo is also booked into the new International Convention Centre Sydney at Darling Harbour from 28 to 30 April 2017.

“So we’re planning ahead to introduce fantastic new features and promotional opportunities to fully leverage the potential of this incredible new venue,” says Mr Pearce.

The Fitness & Health Expo is a trade and consumer exhibition offering the latest products, equipment, and services to fitness enthusiasts and top industry buyers. Visitors can test out the latest gym equipment, take part in group training sessions, see live healthy cooking demos, buy accessories, apparel, and supplements, compete in events, get advice from fitness experts, and more.

“Steve and I are thrilled to be able to focus our energies solely on these two great events. We really love working with the food and fitness sectors and firmly believe we can help businesses in all the relevant industries to grow and prosper in the coming years.”
