23rd December 2016 –

Steve Pettit has been appointed Commander in Chief (CEO) for the Australian Institute of Fitness (the Institute), effective January 9th, 2017, on the retirement of current CEO, Dyanne Ward.

Steve Pettit is currently the QLD Mission Commander for the Institute, a role which he has held for eight years and will also retain.

An incredibly well-respected figure within the fitness industry, Pettit has extensive experience in a range of leadership roles.

He has worked with some of the world’s leading fitness providers and is also a popular keynote presenter where he focuses on the topic of leadership development.

In his new role as CEO, Pettit’s responsibilities will expand to include the leadership of the Institute’s National team, who in conjunction with the state based teams, are responsible for ensuring the Institute continues to be #1 in fitness careers through offering world-class qualifications including Fitness, Massage, Nutrition and Business in a fun, fresh and friendly way.

According to Dyanne Ward, retiring CEO for the Institute:
“My career in the fitness industry has spanned over 35 years, six of which have been with the Australian Institute of Fitness. During the time I have been the Commander in Chief, the Institute has navigated substantial changes in the vocational training sector and evolved into a mature organisation that has maintained its position as a strong and credible RTO servicing the fitness industry. The time has now come to hand the reigns over to a dynamic and capable new leader.”

Steve Pettit comments on his appointment to the role as CEO for the Institute:
“I would like to thank Dyanne Ward for her commitment to the Institute. Dyanne has been a driving force, not only for the Institute, but also in the development of the Australian fitness industry. Her outstanding leadership style has seen her become a respected leader and mentor to our team and we wish Dyanne all the best for her retirement.

As I prepare to commence my new position as CEO for the Institute, I’m dedicated to injecting a fresh new energy into the business. I’m looking forward to working with our talented team as we build on our reputation as the industry leader in fitness careers. We will continue to deliver knowledgeable and passionate graduates into the fitness industry, who will move on to successful careers and positively impact the health and wellbeing of many Australians.”
