Rugby League Pro, Ben Fisher Announced As Head-Trainer For Orangetheory Fitness Bondi Junction

Aside from the innovation behind the Orangetheory® Fitness group interval training concept, members are bound to be lining up to work with the studio’s head trainer, who is none other than degree-educated, former professional rugby league player Ben Fisher.

Fisher’s background is Rugby League. He spent his junior football years in the local area with the Sydney Roosters, and nine years as a first grade player in the UK and France. He also competed in two World Cups, earning 15 caps for Scotland. After learning about the Orangetheory concept through a friend in the States, Fisher travelled to Florida to experience the Orange Effect for himself. A mere ten minutes into his first session and he was sold!

“I’m thrilled to be opening the very first Orangetheory Fitness studio in Australia,” says Fisher. “My passion has always been within the health and fitness industry, I was first registered as a personal trainer in December 2003, actively training clients throughout my football career, as well as obtaining a BSc (Hons) Degree in Sports Performance and Advanced Science. Being a professional athlete enabled me to access the most up-to-date and advanced training techniques from some of the fitness industry’s leading minds. These were the experiences that enabled me to identify the quality of training that underpins Orangetheory.”

“The sessions cater to everyone, regardless of their fitness levels. We have parameters for novice power walkers to elite runners and pro athletes. I was invited to sit in on a session design meeting with the company’s creator and exercise physiologist, Ellen Latham. She designed “the ultimate workout” which has since become the foundation for Orangetheory Fitness. Seeing first-hand the time, preparation and process that goes into the development of every individual training template, was the icing on the cake for me; I absolutely had to be involved,” adds Ben.

Orangetheory Fitness has become one of the world’s top fitness franchises in the US, with nearly 200 studios in 28 states. The fast-growing group personal training franchise will open its first Australian fitness facility this month, with the brand’s newest studio located in Bondi Junction (NSW) and two additional sites opening in Hawthorn (SA) and Aspley (QLD).

Membership packages are available now at discounted pre-opening rates; customers who become foundation members can save up to 20 per cent and lock in these discounted prices for the entire duration of the membership. To view an artist’s rendering of the club once it’s fully built, click here.

About Orangetheory® Fitness

Orangetheory® Fitness is a one-of-a-kind, group personal training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), Orangetheory’s heart-rate-monitored training is designed to maintain a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by skilled personal trainers, participants use a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX® suspension training and free weights, burning an average of 900 calories including after-burn. The result is the Orange Effect – more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours post-workout. Orangetheory Fitness was recently ranked #399 in Inc. magazine’s Fastest Growing Private Companies List and #462 in Entrepreneur’s 2015 Franchise 500® list of the top franchises in the world.
