Peloton Looks To Acquire Precor

For 40 years, Precor has been a pioneer in creating quality fitness experiences for customers and exercisers alike.

Those experiences span across all major categories, including cardio, strength, group training, and connected solutions. We continue to lead in each category by providing proven expertise and delivering high-quality products, top-ranked service, and experience design.

In 1995, we introduced the world to its first elliptical. In 2010, we again revolutionised the fitness industry by delivering its first capacitive touchscreen.

In the face of a global pandemic, I was inspired by our industry’s resilience as we rallied around each other to support the communities we serve.

In 2020, Precor surpassed the milestone of recording one billion workouts in its networked fitness cloud. That number represents an aggregate of more than 140,000 connected cardio units in over 13,000 commercial facilities. We also introduced the market to our 21-piece Resolute™ Selectorised Strength Line. We further innovated for you and your exercisers by leveraging our strong digital partnerships via Advagym by Sony and eGym Digital to deliver solutions that helped you stay connected to your members. Our net promoter score increased to 46, moving from “great” to “excellent.” We also protected our communities and healthcare workers by utilising our upholstery team’s skills to deliver PPE.

Today, I am excited to inform you that Peloton, the leading interactive fitness platform, announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Precor from Amer Sports.

Subject to the completion of the agreement, Precor, currently a division of Amer Sports, would operate as a business unit within Peloton. Once this sale is executed, I would continue to lead this organisation as CEO, Precor and General Manager, Peloton Commercial, and report to William Lynch, Peloton’s President.

For now, it is business as usual, and not much is changing about our operations, our relationships, and our plans.

We anticipate this transaction may be completed in early 2021, at which time we will keep you informed of new developments.

I genuinely believe that this would be an excellent move for Precor and Peloton and that once this transaction is completed, we could look forward to an exciting future together. The Peloton team would bring a strong commitment to the values we hold dear, the deep resources, and the capabilities needed to help you and your exercisers win.
