The 2012 New Zealand Fitness Industry Awards, managed by Fitness New Zealand were recently held on November 24th. The Fitness Industry Awards “are designed to recognise those making a contribution to the health and wellness of New Zealanders through exercise and fitness.”
Les Mills Christchurch took out the honourable titles of ‘Large Club’ and ‘Supreme Club’ of the year. The club has come far to achieve such awards, after being damaged in the city’s earthquake in February 2011.
The many other accolades the club achieved include their fourth ‘Group Fitness Instructor of the Year’, (awarded to Jean Scott), finalist for ‘Up and Coming PT of the Year’ (Ginaya Chaston) and the ‘Innovation’ award for the club’s Sunday Market.
Les Mills Christchurch were commended by the Award’s judges for “rapid regeneration of membership base, daily tracking and reporting of ‘member experience’ KPI’s and an informed together team, working to achieve targets”, the club also won the Precor – Club of the Year award for 1500+ members.
Les Mills Christchurch’s also achieved the “very high retention rate, particularly for a large club, which proves member satisfaction, backed up by attendance rates and customer feedback and for being New Zealand’s first ‘green’ fitness club (having been) awarded the ‘Envirochoice Tick’.” This pioneering initiative in the fitness industry aligns with the value of ‘Be Green’. Proudly communicated throughout the club, actively using the award to encourage staff and members to be green in their everyday lives.”
