ENDIA: A Study Into The Causes Of Type 1 Diabetes

The Environmental Determinants of Islet Autoimmunity (ENDIA) study is finding out what causes type 1 diabetes.

In Australia, type 1 diabetes in children is twice as common as it was 20 years ago. If we understand how environmental factors and exposures may contribute to or protect against type 1 diabetes, we will be better equipped to develop strategies that may prevent type 1 diabetes in the future.

Eligibility checklist…

  • A pregnant woman with type 1 diabetes, or
  • A pregnant woman whose baby’s father has type 1 diabetes, or
  • A pregnant woman with an older child with type 1 diabetes, or
  • Babies less than 6 months of age that have a parent or sibling with type 1 diabetes.
