Registrations are now open for Race Around Rottnest, the newest event to join the adventure race calendar in Western Australia. The inaugural event will take place on 21st September 2013 on idyllic Rottnest Island.
The adventure race consists of four legs; 1km ocean swim, 17.5km mountain bike ride, 6km ocean paddle, finishing with an 8km trail run. Participants have the choice to compete as an individual, or tackle the course as a team of 2, 3 or 4.
CIC Events Managing Director, Craig Smith-Gander, has been the driving force behind the creation of this new event. Mr Smith-Gander says,“Rottnest Island is the ultimate location for an adventure race. We’ve designed a course that is challenging for competitors, plus showcases the natural beauty of the spectacular holiday destination.
“We’ve teamed up with Autism West as the chosen charity for Race Around Rottnest. Therefore, we’re aiming to raise awareness and funds to enrich the lives of families living with Autism. We’re encouraging everyone to get involved in this brand new event. It will be a fun challenge, whether you’re competing as an individual or as part of a team. Most importantly, all participants will be supporting a very worthy cause,” said Mr Smith-Gander.
Now is the time to add this event to your calendar, round up your friends and family and make a weekend of it at Rottnest Island.
