What is it all about?
Ezypay, Australia leading direct debit provider, answered the call from the fitness industry for accurate information about how clubs operate and what their members’ thoughts, feelings and perceptions are. In 2008, Ezypay developed and conducted The Australian Fitness Industry Survey, with New Zealand clubs and the member survey starting in 2011. The fitness survey specifically targets owners, managers and members of health and fitness centres across Australia and New Zealand.
2008 – Inaugural survey. Participants: 264 clubs
2009 – The member’s survey introduced. Participants: 608 clubs – 7,000 members
2010 – Expert panel discussion group set up and video series released Fitness industry Trend Report released. Participants: 420 clubs – 7,000 members
2011 – Fitness New Zealand join the survey. Participants: 600 clubs – 11,000 members
2012 – Exclusive club survey’s provided. Club survey is moved to bi-annual – Participants: 13,500 Members
How does it work?
The ANZFIS consists of two surveys;
Club Survey: Club owners and managers provide an overview of their clubs general operations along with specific themes like
marketing, social media, personal training and group fitness. Due to the data not changing much year on year this survey is now
conducted on a biennial basis. The next club survey will take place in 2013.
Members survey: Members provide their thoughts, feelings and perceptions of their club. The survey is distributed through Ezypay’s client base, through the sponsors, associations and alliance networks and across the social media networks. Ezypay also offers a unique service providing clubs with an independent survey exclusive to their members. A survey link is sent by the club to their members and they receive the results from their members along with the overall survey results to be able to make some comparisons.
