The Largest Fitness, Health & Wellness Exhibition Ever

The Fitness Show took place on 20-22 April 2018 at the ICC Sydney, Darling Harbour and the stats are in!

This was the first time that the show was on 2 levels with one level dedicated to the Industry Zone, which included the commercial equipment suppliers.

Deemed as a major success, the show drew over 31,000 unique visitors through the doors, making it the largest fitness, health and wellness exhibition to ever be held in Australia!

Here are some key statistics and takeaways from the show (as provided by the event organisers):-

  • 52% Consumer Visitors
  • 48% Industry Visitors

CONSUMER STATISTICS
Gender: 51 % female vs 49% male
Age: 63% of consumer visitors were aged between 18-34 and 31% between 35-54

General Interests:
57% of visitors were interested in strength training and supplements whilst 43% of visitors were interested in leading a healthy and active lifestyle such as attending a fitness class or simply eating healthy food.

Top 3 Products interests in the strength category:

    1. Supplements
    2. Apparel
    3. Food & Beverage

Top 3 Products interests in the active category:

  1. Health & Functional Foods
  2. Sports & Activewear
  3. Fitness Accessories

INDUSTRY VISITOR STATISTICS
Top 5 interest of the industry visitors:

    1. Education
    2. Group Fitness
    3. Stretching & Flexibility
    4. Personal Training System
    5. Commercial fitness & Training Equipment
  • 36% of the visitors are working in a fitness club or a personal training gym or studio.
  • 36% are working as personal trainers/coaches/fitness instructors.
  • 30% of the visitors have the title of CEO/Manager/Owner.

Main reason for visiting the show:

Visit different exhibitor stands and areas of the show to see what is new and interesting in the industry.”

JOB FUNCTION
It would be interesting to get a better understanding of the cross-overs here. For instance, a self-employed Personal Trainer may also see themselves as a Group Fitness Instructor and the Owner of their own business. The results came back as (in alphabetical order):-

Looking at this breakdown, it’s interesting to see that there were more Personal Trainers (almost 13%) that attended the show compared to any other business/industry. It’s a pretty detailed list so it would be interesting to know where the ‘highest’ percentage come from which is ‘Other’? Results again in alphabetical order:-
