How to make your gym vending
machine more appealing to your
members and more profitable for you
Having your own customised gym vending machine for your members to purchase
industry specific drink and food product 24/7 is becoming ever increasingly popular.
The small amount of time and effort put in can be very profitable and rewarding. But
at the same time, you could be faced with some challenges. There are a few important
steps to remember to make your endeavour easier.
Step 1. Place your vending machine for
maximum ROI.
Look for a high foot traffic
location within your gym to place your
vending machine. The higher the foot traffic,
the larger number of potential sales you will
have. Think of it as real estate; you have
paid for floor space in your gym and you
want the highest ROI from every square foot
of it. A well placed and correctly stocked
vending machine will provide you with
excellent profit opportunities.
Step 2. Choose what to vend wisely.
With
your data about the members in your gym,
decide what products you should stock in
your vending machine that is relevant to
their needs and wants. If you are offering
your customers cans of soft drink,
chocolates and a bag of potato chips from
your machine, they probably won’t be
buying much. They would probably prefer
specialty drink and food products such as
pre and post workout, proteins, energy,
gainers and mineral water.
Step 3. Partner with a good supplier.
It is
vital that you find a good supplier of the
products you want to stock in your vending
machine; one that will give you sound
advice, be able to supply you regularly and
one that is willing to help with promotions
and giveaways. They should also be able to
help you compile a list of the most popular
products in their range and this can be a
good starting point when stocking your
vending machine for the first time.
There are many suppliers to choose from
such as…Flush Fitness, Superior
Supplements, Musashi, Body Science,
Endura, Horleys and Max’s; these are just a
small example of many suppliers that will
help you.
Step 4. Make a good presentation.
Try to
make your vending presentation more
personalized and unique. For instance, run
weekly or monthly specials which are
advertised throughout the gym, newsletters,
blogs and email alerts. If it is the Christmas
season, dress-up
your vending
machine with red
and
green
wrappers or
something that
says,
“Hey!
Merry
Christmas”. Use
your creative
juices to keep
your members
engaged in the
products you are
selling.
Encourage your gym members to go to and
use your vending machine by placing well
sited signs around the gym and changing
rooms; attach specials you are running or
nutritional information to encourage
consumption.
!
Step 5.
Get support from your equipment
supplier
. Your vending machine equipment
supplier should have the resources to give
you free telephone support, as and when you
need it. Use this free service to help with
any technical questions you may have or
changes you wish to make to the machine.
Tap into their knowledge; your supplier
should have many years of experience in the
vending business and will be able to help
with product selection and marketing.
Choose a credible vending machine supplier
that will deliver good quality, reliable and
modern vending machines. The best thing
you can do is to purchase from a company
that has a good track record in supplying the
fitness industry and are able to help arrange
service and repair of the machine if there are
any glitches.
Be sure the dealer can deliver the machine to
your gym and place it exactly where it needs
to go, and give you all the necessary
information for a hassle free startup. Choose
machines with both
coin and note
acceptors attached, so
your members can pay
with both and receive
change when required.
You may also want to
consider branding
your vending machine
with your company
logo to help with your
marketing strategy.
The key to any success in having a
profitable gym vending machine is to plan
things ahead of time and to assume
inevitable circumstances that might hamper
the attainment of your business goals. Try to
follow the five steps and your success will
be a little easier!

vending machine, telephone:
